Soccer Game Preview: Preuss UCSD vs. Gompers Prep Academy

The Preuss UCSD Tritons are taking a road trip to face off against the Gompers Prep Academy Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Preuss UCSD's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Preuss UCSD's victory against High Tech NC wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tritons won by a goal and slipped past the Raptor 3-2. Preuss UCSD haven't had any issues with High Tech NC recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Gompers Prep Academy was not quite Bayfront Charter's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty nine goals in the game before, Gompers Prep Academy couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gompers Prep Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4-2. As for Preuss UCSD, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-10-2.

Preuss UCSD beat Gompers Prep Academy 4-2 in their previous matchup back in January of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tritons since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
