Volleyball Game Preview: Worthington Kilbourne Wolves vs. Westerville Central Warhawks

The Worthington Kilbourne Wolves will be taking part in a tournament against the Westerville Central Warhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Worthington Kilbourne took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Northland as they made off with a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Worthington Kilbourne was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-5, 25-12.

Worthington Kilbourne found their leader in sophomore Audra Bailey, who had five digs and five aces. Those five aces set a new season-high mark for Bailey. Another player making a difference was Nora Cheslik, who had four aces.

Meanwhile, Westerville Central got the win against Watkins Memorial on Wednesday by a conclusive 3-0.

Westerville Central not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Watkins Memorial between 17 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-19.

Worthington Kilbourne is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Westerville Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.

Worthington Kilbourne skirted past Westerville Central 3-2 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Warhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
