Football Preview: Lexington Eagles vs. Rockdale Tigers

The Lexington Eagles will square off against the Rockdale Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Friday, Lexington got the win against Little River Academy by a conclusive 45-21. With the Eagles ahead 38-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Noah Wright-Harris went supernova for Lexington, rushing for 167 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Biehle, who picked up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lexington was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 495 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Little River Academy only gained 288.

Lexington's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Kaiden Chappel and Brock Herring.

Meanwhile, Rockdale made easy work of Hempstead on Friday and carried off a 28-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rockdale, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.

Lexington ended up a good deal behind Rockdale in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, losing 27-13. Can Lexington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
