Basketball Game Preview: Cissna Park Timberwolves vs. Dwight Trojans

The Cissna Park Timberwolves will head out to take on the Dwight Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Dwight will be up against a hot Cissna Park team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Cissna Park simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Iroquois West 63-19. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Raiders are ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dwight had no problem doing just that on Monday. They breezed past the Wildcats to the tune of 58-25. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Cissna Park pushed their record up to 25-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points over those games. As for Dwight, their win bumped their record up to 20-12.

Cissna Park beat Dwight 46-33 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cissna Park since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
