Basketball Recap: Bonneville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Box Elder

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bonneville). They walked away with a 76-69 victory over the Box Elder Bees on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Lakers: when they faced off against the Bees back in January, they had to take a 62-52 loss.

Bonneville was led to victory by Ben Tesch and Bryson Landis. Tesch almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine boards, while Landis went 9 of 11 to rack up 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Tesch has become a key player for Bonneville: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 6-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Hall, who posted seven points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Box Elder lost, don't look at Mayson Jeppsen. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds. Those 33 points gave Jeppsen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasen Anderson, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points.

Bonneville's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Box Elder, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bonneville will host Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Bonneville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Box Elder, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. Box Elder is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
