Baseball Recap: New Brockton Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

New Brockton won the last time they faced Northside Methodist Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Gamecocks came out on top against the Knights by a score of 14-10.

Gavin Hand made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Landin Norris and Hayden Pope did most of the damage at the plate: Norris got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Pope went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases and three RBI. Pope has become a key player for New Brockton: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise. Bryant Crumpler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

New Brockton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside Methodist Academy only managed six hits.

New Brockton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Northside Methodist Academy, they are on a 20-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-20.

Coming up, New Brockton will venture away from home to challenge Satsuma at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside Methodist Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
