The Mountain Ridge Sentinels are taking a road trip to square off against the Lehi Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mountain Ridge 3.2, Lehi 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Mountain Ridge's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Bingham hitters got past them. The Sentinels fell just short of the Miners by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. The Sentinels have struggled against the Miners recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Tatyana Toala made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lehi had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Cavemen.
Addi Felix spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mya Maughan, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Sophie Bliss was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lehi hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive matches.
Lehi's record now sits at 19-8. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 19-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Mountain Ridge hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mountain Ridge came up short against Lehi in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Sentinels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
