Softball Game Preview: Oak Grove Eagles vs. Del Mar Dons

The Oak Grove Eagles will square off against the Del Mar Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Grove is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Oak Grove couldn't beat Christopher on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Eagles came up short against the Cougars, falling 19-5. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 14 runs.

Adeline Serrato made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Aolani Cortes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Del Mar brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Silver Creek with a sharp 11-4 win on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dons as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Natalie Dixon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Niarah Aimonetti and Julienn (Jess) Ruiz-Correa did most of the damage at the plate: Aimonetti went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Ruiz-Correa went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Angelina Lopez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs.

Del Mar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Del Mar's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Oak Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
