Football Recap: Eureka Comes Up Short

Eureka fell victim to El Paso-Gridley and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Titans. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Titans are ranked 77th).

Despite the loss, Eureka still got an impressive performance from Finn Hoffman, who rushed for 131 yards and one score.

El Paso-Gridley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Adams, who threw for 151 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Aaden Adams helped Owen out on the ground, rushing for 75 yards and one touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Eureka and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for El Paso-Gridley, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.
