Baseball Recap: Wellsville Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wellsville and Baldwin meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Dylan Strenth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Caleb Timkin was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Wellsville has also been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Baldwin, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9.

While Wellsville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
