Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Hoggard

Hoggard entered their tilt with West Brunswick on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the West Brunswick Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 57-42. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hoggard was led to victory by Hunter McGrath and Will Seward. McGrath went 10 of 19 en route to 24 points and four steals, while Seward dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. McGrath is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Desyn Durand, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Hoggard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Hoggard pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for West Brunswick, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Hoggard will take on Northern Guilford in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Brunswick, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
