Basketball Recap: Maud Takes a Loss

Maud was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 38-30 to the Rivercrest Rebels. The Cardinals were probably out for revenge after losing 40-29 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Maud saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mallorie Bishop posted 19 points. Bishop's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Leading Rivercrest to victory were Diana Kelley and Makayla Evans. Kelley earned eight points and three steals, while Evans had nine points. Evans is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Maud's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Rivercrest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-18.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clarksville the next time they take the court. Rivercrest will head out to face Clarksville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Maud will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
