Baseball Recap: Platteview Gets the Win

While Platteview's victory against Blair wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Bears on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won five in a row.

Platteview got a great performance from Tucker Riha as he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Riha a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Easton Harris was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

The win got Platteview back to even at 2-2. As for Blair, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Platteview will take on Nebraska City at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Blair, they will take on Elkhorn in a tournament on Friday.
