Basketball Recap: Durham Academy Comes Up Short

Durham Academy played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Jordan Falcons, falling 80-52. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Durham Academy lost, don't look at Josh Dorsette. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Malcolm McNeill, who went 5-for-11 en route to 13 points.

Jordan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Diaz, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Collini, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Durham Academy fell to 3-1.

Durham Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on NCSSM: Durham at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. The Cavaliers will need to watch out since the Unicorns have now posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Jordan, they will face off against Charlotte Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on the 29th.
