Basketball Recap: Las Cruces Skates Past Alamogordo with Ease

After losing to Alamogordo the last time they met, Las Cruces decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs blew past the Alamogordo Tigers 57-27 on Thursday. The Bulldawgs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Las Cruces' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bethzy Quinones, who went 6 for 15 en route to 14 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Quinones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaysha Hawkins, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points.

Las Cruces was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Alamogordo lost, don't look at Teeya Gordon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 21 rebounds. Gordon has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played.

Las Cruces' record is now 12-7. As for Alamogordo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Las Cruces wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-43 win against Centennial on the 3rd. Alamogordo has also already played their next match, a 48-47 loss against Gadsden on the 3rd.
