Softball Recap: Central Cambria Beats Bishop Mccort for Their Third Straight Victory

Central Cambria extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 4-1 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Bishop McCort Crushers. The Red Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Crushers, too.

The result came thanks to Keira Link's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Central Cambria saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowyn Ruddek, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Avery Biter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Bishop McCort, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Bishop McCort's side, Lariah Myers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

Central Cambria has already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Greater Johnstown on the 16th. As for Bishop McCort, they are taking a road trip to challenge Penn Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Crushers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
