Football Recap: Edcouch-Elsa's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Edcouch-Elsa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 27-17 win over the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellowjackets also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

The critical scores for Edcouch-Elsa came from Brandon Ibarra, Mason Villalpando, and John Amaya.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Edcouch-Elsa's defense and their six sacks. Derek Cardenas was especially locked on to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest's QB and sacked him 4.5 times. Cardenas is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Ibarra got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Edcouch-Elsa now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8.
