Softball Game Preview: Silver Creek Raiders vs. Lincoln Lions

The Silver Creek Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Silver Creek has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Silver Creek needed a bit of extra time to put away Washington. They skirted past the Huskies 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since March 9, 2024.

Evangelina Cuevas made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting no hits from her four at bats. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four).

In other batting news, Silver Creek let Malerie Ramirez and Imani Mayo run wild. Ramirez scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Mayo scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Mayo has posted since back in February. Emma Tang also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Friday. They fell just short of Piedmont Hills by a score of 2-1.

Silver Creek's record now sits at 7-9. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Silver Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Silver Creek came up short against Lincoln in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 7-4. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
