Volleyball Recap: Leander Extends Winning Streak to Three

Leander had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Glenn Grizzlies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Leander walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-12, 17-25, 25-18, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Macy Cepeda and Alyssa Kato, who picked up ten kills apiece. Cepeda really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 23. Finally, Troy Acevedo kept Leander's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Glenn lost, don't look at Milan Benavides. Despite the final result, she had 22 digs and six assists. With that strong performance, Benavides is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game.

Leander's record is now 20-18. As for Glenn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 19 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-21 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Leander will challenge rival Rouse at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Glenn is set to take on their familiar foe Liberty Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
