Softball Recap: Minerva Comes Up Short

Minerva fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Fairless on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Kylie Hannen put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Hannen was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Rachel Weaver was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Natalie Essick also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Minerva's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Fairless, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Minerva will challenge Alliance at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairless, they will take on Carrollton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
