The Wooster Generals are taking a road trip to face off against the Loudonville Redbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wooster is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
On Saturday, Wooster didn't have quite enough to beat Buckeye and fell 5-4.
Sydney McAfoos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Kennedy Russell and Kara Cannon did some serious damage despite the final result: Russell scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Cannon scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Russell also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Loudonville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Lucas 10-8. The Redbirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Addison Wolford, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Alesha Felix, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Loudonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Loudonville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Wooster, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wooster has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Loudonville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
