Recap: Foard Tigers vs. St. Stephens Indians
The Foard Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 76-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Stephens. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Foard in their matchups with St. Stephens: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Ollis, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ollis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Graham Orndoff, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Foard were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. This was only their tenth loss (out of 14 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Stephens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Hillman, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Hillman is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah VanBeurden, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Foard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for St. Stephens, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8.
Foard will stay at home for another game and welcome North Iredell at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for St. Stephens, they will head out on the road to face off against West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
