Baseball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's Winning Streak

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability dropped their record down to 6-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Louisburg Warriors, falling 20-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zione Oliver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Oliver is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

As for Louisburg, the win got them back to even at 8-8. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Louisburg's side, the team relied heavily on Jake Layton, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBI. The Warriors are 2-1 when Layton posts three or more hits, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Leonard, who went 1-for-2 with four runs and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Southern School of Energy and Sustainability will take on rival South Granville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Louisburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Durham School of the Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
