Basketball Recap: Northern Valley Comes Up Short

Northern Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Hill City Ringnecks and fell 73-27. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-13.

Despite the defeat, Northern Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Griffin McKinney posted two points and nine boards.

Leading Hill City to victory were Carson Keith and Vincent Zohner. Keith dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals, while Zohner dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Keith a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Harmon, who put up nine points and five steals.

Northern Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Hill City, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Northern Valley has already played their next match, a 71-49 defeat against Decatur Community on the 14th. As for Hill City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-54 loss against Plainville on the 14th.
