Basketball Recap: Gouverneur Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 30-30 at halftime, Gouverneur was not quite Franklin Academy's equal in the second half on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 71-55 to the Franklin Academy Huskies. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Gouverneur still got an impressive performance from Raine Rumble, who posted 40 points. Rumble's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Blake Hanna was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds for Franklin Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Brad Poupore, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 14 points.

Gouverneur's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Franklin Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Gouverneur will take on Canton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin Academy, they will square off against Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
