Baseball Recap: Mount Vernon Majors vs. Edison Eagles
Mount Vernon extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-13. They lost 7-0 to the Edison Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-2 defeat on Tuesday.
Mount Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Everett Paone, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Edison, they pushed their record up to 13-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
On Edison's side, not much got past Jackson Naumovich, who gave up just four hits to keep Mount Vernon off the board.
On the hitting side, John Dobson and Finn Conger did most of the damage at the plate: Dobson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Conger went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Dobson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthias Alden, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Mount Vernon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Edison, they will square off against Justice at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
