Softball Recap: Coral Reef Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

After losing to Osceola the last time they met, Coral Reef decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Barracudas blew past the Kowboys 7-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Barracudas have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Quinley Wylie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avery Clegg was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Junco, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Coral Reef has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Osceola, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Coral Reef will face off against East Ridge at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Barracudas will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games. As for Osceola, they will challenge Winter Springs at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Kowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
