Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Stritch Comes Up Short at Home Against Danbury

Cardinal Stritch unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Danbury Lakers on Saturday, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

While Cardinal Stritch was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.

Ryley Rodriguez and Hayden Mathena certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Rodriguez had 20 digs, while Mathena had 24 assists and 11 digs.

Cardinal Stritch has already played their next contest (against Rossford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Danbury, they will face off against Gibsonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Lakers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
