Preview: Avenal Buccaneers vs. Laton Mustangs
Avenal is 10-0 against Laton since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Avenal Buccaneers are on the road again and play against the Laton Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th.
Last Wednesday, Avenal came up short against Kings Christian and fell 51-40.
Meanwhile, Laton's ten-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 27-26 win over Woodlake. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Laton has managed all season.
Laton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Johnathan Garcia, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Cesar Meza, who scored nine points.
Avenal has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Laton, their victory bumped their record up to 1-10.
Avenal took their win against Laton when the teams last played back in November by a conclusive 47-21. Will Avenal repeat their success, or does Laton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
