Basketball Recap: Howard Comes Up Short

Howard fought the good fight in their overtime game against West Laurens on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the West Laurens Raiders by a score of 68-66. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-42 back in December of 2024.

RJ Whipple continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Laurens, going 6 for 14 on his way to 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave Whipple a new career-high. Dorian Watkins was another key player, putting up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Howard and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for West Laurens, their record now sits at 7-10.

Howard has already played their next match, a 52-46 defeat against Harlem on the 27th. As for West Laurens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-38 victory against Hephzibah on the 24th.
