Basketball Recap: Merrillville Pirates vs. Lake Central Indians
The Merrillville Pirates lost against the Lake Central Indians back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Merrillville received a tough blow as they fell 64-48 to the Indians. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Merrillville has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Merrillville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keyshawn Mitchell. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Aidan Dilosa was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Merrillville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Lake Central, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.
Merrillville has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Fort Wayne Snider will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Lake Central, they will head out on the road to challenge the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Chicago Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully the Indians like a good challenge.
