Soccer Game Preview: Edgewood vs. Brookfield Central

The Edgewood Crusaders are taking a road trip to square off against the Brookfield Central Lancers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Edgewood's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Brookfield Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Edgewood is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wisconsin's top teams: McFarland, who was ranked 13th at the time (Edgewood was ranked eighth). The Crusaders fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Edgewood couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Brookfield Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Tuesday. Neither they nor Germantown could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result kept Brookfield Central happy, as they haven't lost a game since September 6th.

Brookfield Central's draw makes their record 6-2-3 this season. As for Edgewood, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1-1.

Edgewood was able to grind out a solid victory over Brookfield Central in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
