Baseball Game Preview: Covina Colts vs. Rowland Raiders

For the second straight game, Covina will face off against Rowland. The Colts will host the Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Covina's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Rowland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Covina needed a bit of extra time to put away Rowland. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Colts have posted against the Raiders since April 27, 2016.

Cesar Guzman spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Covina is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Declan Bowers, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

Rowland is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17. As for Covina, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.
