Baseball Recap: Heritage Hawks vs. Fisher Bunnies
Heritage had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it eight. They lost 15-0 to the Fisher Bunnies. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bunnies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
Heritage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Happ, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
As for Fisher, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
On Fisher's side, Colt Daugherty made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Daugherty was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Fisher is undefeated when Daugherty posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jaymz Hammack and Brayden Mowry did most of the damage at the plate: Hammack went 1-for-2 with one home run and five RBI, while Mowry went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Hammack's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Arndt, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Heritage will head out to square off against Neoga at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fisher, they will venture away from home to challenge Hoopeston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
