Softball Preview: Hackett Hornets vs. Paris Eagles
The Hackett Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Paris Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hackett will be strutting in after a win while Paris will be coming in after a defeat.
Hackett gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Westside.
Kassitey Hill was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Michaelyn Freeman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hackett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westside only managed six.
Meanwhile, Paris was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Mansfield.
Paris' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Hackett, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
Everything went Hackett's way against Paris when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hackett made off with a 22-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
