Volleyball Game Preview: Alexander Spartans vs. Waterford Wildcats

The Alexander Spartans will head out to challenge the Waterford Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alexander has four straight wins, Waterford has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Alexander got the win against Meigs by a conclusive 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Alexander was: they took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-12.

Alexander relied on the efforts of Ava McCall, who had eight aces and five digs, and Abbi Ohms, who had 15 digs. Ohms is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Alexander was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 15 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Waterford came up short against Trimble on Thursday and fell 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-14.

Alexander's record is now 16-3. As for Waterford, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Alexander might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Waterford when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
