Preview: Spain Park Jaguars vs. Montevallo Bulldogs
The Spain Park Jaguars will stay at home for another game and welcome the Montevallo Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Spain Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Spain Park took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 46-10 victory over Bessemer City.
Spain Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Teagan Huey out in front who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Trinity Daniels was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Montevallo's good fortune finally ran out last Tuesday. They lost to Bibb County on the road by a decisive 43-24 margin. While losing is never fun, Montevallo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Bibb County is ranked 67th).
Spain Park pushed their record up to 4-13 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.67 points. As for Montevallo, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Spain Park strolled past Montevallo in their previous matchup back in November of 2016 by a score of 59-45. Does Spain Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Montevallo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
