Basketball Recap: Hope Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Paulding County over Campbell

If Paulding County was riding high fresh off their 65-33 takedown of Osborne last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Paulding County Patriots lost 58-38 to the Campbell Spartans on Thursday. The Patriots have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hope Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Saniya Townes also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Campbell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aleigha Parish led the charge by going 8-for-9 on her way to 17 points along with seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Parish a new career-high in shooting accuracy (89%). Saniya Binion was another key player, putting up 14 points and five assists.

Paulding County's record is now 19-8. As for Campbell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Paulding County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-28 win against Harrison on the 14th. As for Campbell, they have also already played their next game, a 54-50 defeat against Hillgrove on the 14th.
