Football Recap: Joshua Kay and Iverson Garcia Lead the Defense for Powell Win

If Halls wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Powell, they should've done a better job of containing Deuce Rodgers. The Panthers enjoyed a cozy 32-13 victory over the Red Devils on Thursday with plenty of help from Rodgers, who rushed for 161 yards and two scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 74 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Powell's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Joshua Kay and Iverson Garcia, who racked up all five sacks between them.

The win made it two in a row for Powell and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points over those games. As for Halls, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Powell and Halls will both be playing William Blount the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Governors at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th, while the Red Devils will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
