Recap: Marian Catholic vs. Panther Valley Panthers
It was a good run, but Marian Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Panther Valley 69-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Marian Catholic came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Panther Valley is ranked 342nd).
Despite the loss, Marian Catholic still got an impressive performance from Julius Currie, who scored 29 points along with seven assists. The contest was Currie's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jesse Rodino was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Marian Catholic's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2. As for Panther Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Marian Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mount Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. As for Panther Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pottsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
