Basketball Game Preview: York Institute Dragons vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders

The York Institute Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. York Institute will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for York Institute against Watertown as the squad secured an 82-47 victory. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Gatlinburg-Pittman came up short against Alcoa on Friday and fell 59-47.

York Institute will have to contain Maliyah Glasper as she made an impact in Gatlinburg-Pittman's last game. She went 9 of 20 on her way to 24 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Mejias, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

York Institute's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

York Institute came up short against Gatlinburg-Pittman in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 52-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Glasper, who posted 17 points along with seven assists and three steals.
