Baseball Recap: Shalhevet Wins Going Away Against Animo City of Champions

Shalhevet never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Animo City of Champions Wildcats with a sharp 25-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-9 back in April.

Liam Putnam made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Shalhevet is undefeated when Putnam posts three or more RBI, but 3-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Shalhevet got a massive performance out of Yakov Liberman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Liberman has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ari Elad, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Shalhevet is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Animo City of Champions, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Looking ahead, Shalhevet will head out on the road to square off against Wiseburn- Da Vinci at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Animo City of Champions, they will host Compton Early College at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
