Softball Recap: Garfield Extends Winning Streak to Five

Garfield waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Berkshire Badgers. That's more bragging rights for the G-Men, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Juliana Genovese made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Genovese was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kolby Fresch was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Knerem, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Garfield now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Berkshire, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garfield will welcome Windham at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in the G-Men's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Bombers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Berkshire, they will host Jefferson Area at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Badgers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
