Basketball Recap: Lafayette Jefferson Takes a Loss

Lafayette Jefferson lost against Lafayette Central Catholic back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights.

Despite the loss, Lafayette Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Maya Layton, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points along with seven assists and seven boards. Layton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. Da'Niyah Johnson was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.

Lafayette Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Lafayette Jefferson has already played their next contest, a 67-35 victory against Carroll on the 30th. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-33 win against Guerin Catholic on the 31st.
