Football Recap: Slaughter Community Charter Starts Season with Victory Against Varnado

Slaughter Community Charter had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Varnado Wildcats, posting a 43-0 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Carson Baxter went supernova, rushing for 54 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 48 yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Ty'Kimion Ford, who picked up 48 receiving yards and two scores.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Slaughter Community Charter, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Albert Eubanks, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Slaughter Community Charter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jack Gilkison and Colton Borg.

Slaughter Community Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 62-0 win against Morgan City on the 11th. As for Varnado, they will square off against Pope John Paul II at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
