Football Game Preview: Verona vs. Newark Collegiate Academy

On Friday Verona take on Newark Collegiate Academy at 7:00 PM.

It was all tied up at the half for Verona and Boonton last Friday, but Verona stepped up in the second half. Verona walked away with a 33-21 victory over Boonton. No one put up better numbers for Verona than senior Nick Riggio, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 184 yards and 1 touchdown. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Riggio's 65-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Newark Collegiate Academy made easy work of Tenafly and carried off a 28-6 win. Newark Collegiate Academy were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.

Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 2-0. We'll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when Verona and Newark Collegiate Academy clash.
