Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Andrews

The Andrews Yellowjackets beat the Manning Monarchs 13-10 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Brycen Cannon made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sloan Harper, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Andrews' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1-1 (and 5-8-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Khalil Dorsey, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Andrews kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Andrews' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Manning, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

As of now, neither Andrews nor the Monarchs have any future games scheduled.
