Football Recap: Andrew Jackson Comes Up Short

Andrew Jackson had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Fairfield Central Griffins. Having soared to a lofty 52 points in the game before, the Volunteers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Logan Neal threw for 57 yards on six of 16 attempts. Zeke Clyburn was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

As for Fairfield Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2. They have beaten Andrew Jackson the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Andrew Jackson has come to flipping the script.

A big part of Fairfield Central's win came down to the chemistry between Kaden Diggs and his top target Ty'Quarius Shannon. Diggs rushed for 76 yards and one score on only nine carries while Shannon rushed for 142 yards. What's more, Diggs posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Andrew Jackson and Fairfield Central will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Volunteers are set to square off against their familiar foe Cheraw at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fairfield Central will challenge rival Mid-Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
