Basketball Recap: Episcopal Comes Up Short

Episcopal lost against Flint Hill on February 1st, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Sunday. The Episcopal Maroon fell to the Flint Hill Huskies 52-48.

Despite the loss, Episcopal still got an impressive performance from Princess Akojenu, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Akojenu has become a key player for Episcopal: the team is 7-3 when she posts at least ten boards, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Genesis Villegas, who posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Episcopal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive games.

Episcopal's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Flint Hill, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-7.

Episcopal has already played their next matchup, a 76-69 win against Bishop O'Connell on the 25th. As for Flint Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-22 victory against Collegiate on the 25th.
