Basketball Recap: Troy Comes Up Short

Troy suffered their biggest loss since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They lost 80-59 to the Valley Falls Dragons. The Trojans have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Troy still got an impressive performance from Henry Geiger, who went 8 for 20 to rack up 23 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gannon Bowe, who posted nine points.

Valley Falls' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trenten VanHoutan, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 27 points along with eight boards and five assists. VanHoutan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games he's played. Collin Kearney was another key player, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Valley Falls, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Troy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-32 victory against Pleasant Ridge on the 11th. As for Valley Falls, they have also already played their next matchup, an 84-57 win against Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] on the 11th.
